With EUV implementation accelerating — SK hynix made a historic $7.9 billion purchase of ASML EUV equipment on March 24 — helium usage per wafer is rising rather than falling. The Semiconductor Industry Association cautioned in a 2023 submission to the USGS that helium supply interruptions "would probably cause disruptions to worldwide chip fabrication."
