Lenovo's 8.8-inch gaming tablet is getting a spec boost with the latest version announced at MWC 2026, the $849 Legion Tab Gen 5. The tablet has a Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset, 16GB of RAM and up to 512GB storage. It also has a 9,000mAh battery to support longer gaming sessions, and two USB-C ports. The Legion Tab Gen 5 comes in three colors: Eclipse Black, Glacier White and the lime-green Surge. It launches in May. At this point, I should mention that the reason I did more extensive testing this year across different regions is the disappointing performance of Emerald Rapids in practice, compared to its showing on my original benchmarks. It seems that as it started to get used, exhibited a performance variance that looks consistent with boost behavior + node contention (i.e. more sensitive to noisy neighbors). I suspect this is why GCP offers the option to turn boost clock off in Emerald Rapids instances for "consistent performance".
